OK to park in bike lane, unless otherwise posted...

But  BE CAREFUL! Look over your shoulder before opening your door.

Right of way to turning cars. They have green light. I wait for my turn.

Stop sign is coming up soon. Be prepared to stop.

Stop sign and bike lane. Look in the rear view mirror and over my shoulder for bikers. Must merge into bike lane to turn right and stop completely. Yield to cars who are waiting at stop sign before I turn. If I arrive at the same time as another vehicle and they are on my right, they have the right-of-way.

Two sets of solid yellow lines (two feet apart or more) indicates a barrier, treat it just as if it were a wall and do not cross these. They are placed in areas in which there have been many collisions with oncoming traffic.

Oncoming traffic might be waiting to turn in the left turn lane ahead. Watch out for movement from vehicles that may not see you if the sun is in their face.

Let biker pass before going into bike lane to turn right.

This yellow sign means...

Bikers must drive in the direction of traffic so drivers turning left in the left turn lane may see them and give them the right-of-way. Wait until all bikers, pedestrians, and vehicles pass before attempting to turn left. Do NOT turn your wheels in the direction of your turn so that if you get hit from behind you are not pushed into oncoming traffic.

This yellow sign means....

What options do you have in this situation? What must you do BEFORE choosing your option.

This blue sign means...

Can you turn right at the light?

By student's request when you take Ward Memorial from the 101 in the direction of UCSB: Another NO TURN ON RED sign where Ward Memorial exists toward Hollister.
